Clark struggles, Boston exits as Fever routed by Liberty

A hard foul on the No. 1 WNBA draft pick, Caitlin Clark, garnered international notice when the Indiana Fever won

their first home game of the season on Saturday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Despite a strong fourth quarter effort by Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky, the Fever and rookie standout Clark were able to hold on for a 71-70 triumph.

Although she came off the bench to score 19 points for Chicago, Chennedy Carter was under criticism for a shoulder check to Clark just before the inbound pass in the third quarter.

After a league review, the WNBA informed ESPN on Sunday morning that Carter has been assessed

a flagrant 1 instead of an away-from-the-ball common foul, which was initially called without review.

In her postgame social media tirade, Fever coach Christie Sides blasted Carter's foul on Clark as "unacceptable" and demanded an answer from the WNBA

According to Sides, who spoke at the postgame press conference, the Fever have been reporting plays in which Clark has been "getting hammered" to the WNBA for evaluation.
