Ja Morant signs a 5-year, $231 million Memphis Grizzlies deal.

Memphis Grizzlies His agent, Jim Tanner of Tandem/YouFirst Sports, told ESPN that All-NBA guard Ja Morant has signed a five-year, $231 million designated rookie extension.  

Morant, who made All-NBA Second squad, is guaranteed $193 million and will trigger supermax escalators to reach $231 million if he makes another All-NBA squad.  

Tanner said the transaction included a 15% trade kicker.  "Memphis is my home," Morant tweeted. Morant, 22, is a superstar after averaging 27.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 6.7 assists this season.  

"Over the past three seasons, Ja has truly emerged as an NBA superstar and must-see TV," Tanner said. We're pleased of his journey from Rookie of the Year to NBA All-Star starter, All-NBA Second Team, and Most Improved Player in his pursuit of game improvement and leadership.  

The Grizzlies suit Ja. The organization and city support Ja, who has great potential on and off the court. We look forward to helping him build his legacy in the league.  

The Grizzlies reached the Western Conference playoffs' second round after tying a franchise record with 56 wins.  

Morant made his first All-Star squad and won the NBA's Most Improved Player title.
