On Saturday night, Lionel Messi scored twice to electrify a record-breaking New England Revolution crowd and lead Inter Miami to a 4-1 triumph.
In the 68th minute, Messi gave his team a 2-1 lead with a left-footed strike from deep inside the box, winning the match in front of 65,612 spectators at Gillette Stadium.
Additionally, Messi created some history. He became the first player in MLS history to have 16 goal contributions in his first seven games of a season, according to a Miami post on X.
He has, of course, done this his entire life. After Messi's effort was stopped, teammate Benjamin Cremaschi scored the third goal.
"We expect it from him," Cremaschi stated. "He makes it appear so simple. All we can say is that we are glad he is with us. He seizes the chance when it presents itself.
Caleb Porter, the coach of New England, stated, "I thought we had them locked up pretty good in the first half, after (our) goal."
They were not given many opportunities, nor were they given much time or room to maneuver. Then Messi discovered a crack, like he always does.
