Memphis Grizzlies' Ja Morant and NBA's 'changing of the guard' | Giannotto

Anthony Edwards. Luka Doncic. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Jayson Tatum.

He stopped there to start TNT's “Inside the NBA” postgame program earlier this week, where the NBA playoffs' hot topic came up again.

A "changing of the guard" occurs. That's the postseason's main theme after almost one round.

Barkley probably would have included Ja Morant two years ago.

He presumably would have suggested the Memphis Grizzlies to fill the void left by LeBron James, Steph Curry, and Kevin Durant's impending decline.

But Barkley doesn't say that. No one outside Memphis says that anymore. Currently, only Grizzlies fans, players, and management are discussing the team.

However, this postseason has pushed all Grizzlies fans to make sense of being neither loathed nor adored but mostly ignored.

Where does Memphis fit into the NBA "changing of the guard"? The solution will define this group's legacy, although nobody knows it yet.
