Patriots announce signing of rookie OT Caedan Wallace

The New England Patriots announced the signing of rookie third-round draft selection Caedan Wallace on Friday.

It was the team's sixth signing in the 2024 NFL draft class, which includes eight rookie picks.

The only players still to sign their rookie contracts are wide receiver Ja'Lynn Polk and offensive guard Layden Robinson.

Wallace played right tackle for Penn State during his collegiate career, but he's likely to switch to the left side as the Patriots' new blindside protector.

With veteran Trent Brown heading for free agency, New England could use a boost on the left side.

There are severe depth issues at the position, and rather than addressing the issue with longtime left tackles, the Patriots are banking on Wallace or former Pittsburgh Steelers right tackle Chuks Okorafor to step up.

Wallace previously played left tackle in high school and practiced on that side of the line throughout college. So he isn't entirely new to the relocation.

However, this does not change the fact that his playing experience at that position is limited, and the Patriots are essentially gambling that he will figure it all out.
